My old iPhone 6 and 6s Plus have been in good shape for a while now.
They’re beautiful devices, and if you want a high-end phone, this is the one.
So, is the paint on my old iPhone 5S, 6s, 6 Plus, 6S Plus, and iPhone 6 Plus a dealbreaker?
Or is the upgrade really worth it?
The answer is the latter.
I know the 6s is a great phone.
I know its a great device.
But I’m also not buying it.
For starters, it’s not a 4g phone anymore.
That means there’s no LTE support, so you can’t even talk to it over cellular.
I don’t have any of the cellular data, and even if I did, I’d be paying $100/month.
So, no more 3G data.
Then there’s the price.
The iPhone 6S is $1,299.99.
That’s a hefty price tag for a new phone.
That price also includes the $200/month AppleCare+ service.
I’ve always been a bit wary of paying more than $200 for a phone.
That said, it is a lot cheaper than the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 plus.
So it’s definitely worth the extra $100 for me.
Plus, the new iPhone 7 Plus has a slightly lower price tag, at $649.99, and is also a better smartphone.
The 8 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone X, iPhone 9, and 9 Plus all have slightly lower prices, so I’d probably be more likely to pay more than the $599.99 price tag.
There are, however, some caveats.
First, the iPhone 5s is not currently supported on the new 6s and 6 Plus.
Apple is working on a new version of the iPhone that will support it.
It should arrive this fall, and it will include the A8X chip.
But for now, that’s all we have for now.
If you’re still on the fence about upgrading, here’s the thing: the iPhone 7 is actually better than the 6S and 6S plus.
The iPhone 7 has a faster processor and better camera.
The screen is a little smaller and thinner.
And it has better camera performance.
But the iPhone 8 is a phone that can run the iPhone software more efficiently and is more capable of taking advantage of the latest 4G LTE network.
And if you are upgrading from an older iPhone, the upgrade is going to be more expensive.
If you want an iPhone with the best of both worlds, the best price you can get right now is the iPhone SE.
The new iPhone SE is $649 for a 32GB model, $649 to upgrade from 32GB to 64GB, and $999 for a 128GB model.
That comes to $949 for the 64GB model and $1.049 for a 256GB model in the US.
If that sounds like a lot of money, you’re not wrong.
The same goes for the iPhone X. The X will cost $699 for a 64GB iPhone X with a 128 GB storage option, and the iPhone will be $999 with 128 GB.
Bottom line: I’m still buying a brand new iPhone for its value, but I’m starting to see why I’m keeping my old one.
I can now use the phone to send and receive text messages without having to worry about data charges.
I also have a much faster camera than my iPhone 6 when it comes to selfies.
I’m now more comfortable holding the phone in my hand.
The best part?
I’m getting rid of the old iPhone!
